After a 20 year career in the United States Navy, Mary Ann became a REALTOR in 1996. Serving for 5 of those career years as a Navy Recruiter she won a national award for “Recruiter of the Year”. Mary Ann’s experience includes working as an on-site Sales Consultant at Ocean Ridge Plantation®. Her experience also includes new construction having worked for 2 of the largest National Builders, Centex Homes as well as Beazer Homes. Consistently, ranked as a Top Producing REALTOR, Mary Ann specializes in golf course homes, homesites, condos and townhomes. As a Member of the Builder’s Association, she has been the recipient of numerous awards for sales and marketing, with multi-million dollar sales volume. She is proudly a member of the distinguished RE/MAX Chairman’s Club Award and placed 3rd in the Carolina’s Region for 2006 (out of more than 3400+ agents), and Member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (CLHMS) as well as CSP designation for Certification in New Home sales.

I’ve been living in Brunswick County for seven years and recently started with Mary Ann Bechtel Real Estate. Ryan Powers

I was born and raised in the suburbs of the Washington DC Metro area. Growing up, we always vacationed in Ocean City, MD. As the years went on, Ocean City just became too congested and over-commercialized for my parents as they often came home feeling like they needed a ‘real’ vacation. They had been hearing the rave reviews for years from many of their friends about how beautiful the Coastal Carolinas were so they finally packed us kids up and came down here for a week’s vacation in Sunset Beach, NC. They came back from the Carolinas absolutely hooked and we began vacationing here every year. The laid-back lifestyle, affordable living, beautiful beaches, southern hospitality, world class golf, and the year-round mild climate were just a few of the reasons why!   After retiring in 2000, they looked around quite a few cities in the Southeast, but it became clear to them that they belonged in Brunswick County as it had everything that they always wanted for this next (and more relaxing chapter of their lives). Now, fast forward 10+ years, and they could not be happier with their decision.  And, what’s not to be happy about?! They are finally free of 4 kids (at least financially), cold winters, the high taxes up north, brutal traffic; and now they are living the life THEY always wanted to live!  They often say that moving here was the best decision they ever made!  I tell this story b/c I’ve learned that their story is very similar to just about every family that is looking to retire in the South so it may sound familiar to you as well!  I enjoy helping folks discover this area and I pride myself on my customer service skills.  I cover the entire region from Wilmington/Leland to Southport/Oak Island to Sunset Beach/Calabash & even down into Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  I do everything I can to educate my clients on this area so you can feel as though you are making an informed decision as to whether this area/community offers the lifestyle that you are looking for!  I look forward to helping you on this journey!

Candace Mooney

Candace joined the team in early 2007 to lead our marketing efforts. She brings years of coastal real estate experience. Starting in 1996 as Marketing Assistant for Ocean Ridge Plantation ®, she held that position for 3 years before moving on to become the Marketing Manager at Sea Trail Plantation where she spent over 4 years. Candace knows the “in’s-and-out’s” of our local market as well as provides years of experience “selling” our area and our properties nationally.
