After a 20 year career in the United States Navy, Mary Ann became a REALTOR in 1996. Serving for 5 of those career years as a Navy Recruiter she won a national award for “Recruiter of the Year”. Mary Ann’s experience includes working as an on-site Sales Consultant at Ocean Ridge Plantation®. Her experience also includes new construction having worked for 2 of the largest National Builders, Centex Homes as well as Beazer Homes. Consistently, ranked as a Top Producing REALTOR, Mary Ann specializes in golf course homes, homesites, condos and townhomes. As a Member of the Builder’s Association, she has been the recipient of numerous awards for sales and marketing, with multi-million dollar sales volume. She is proudly a member of the distinguished RE/MAX Chairman’s Club Award and placed 3rd in the Carolina’s Region for 2006 (out of more than 3400+ agents), and Member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (CLHMS) as well as CSP designation for Certification in New Home sales.

Karen’s career as a REALTOR® began in early 2000 when she developed and managed the Resale Division at Sea Trail Plantation.  After a very successful run, Karen decided it was time to expand beyond one development.  By working with Mary Ann Bechtel Real Estate, Karen can offer you the kind of service you want and the chance to work with one agent, building a relationship that goes beyond just the sale.  From start to finish, the focus is on meeting your needs and making the transaction truly seamless.  With a strong management and service background you will be working with a true professional!

Prior to real estate, Karen started her career as a retail buyer where she received an extensive background in business and customer service.  She moved from Massachusetts to Sunset Beach in 1992 and after 18 years, now considers herself a local!

As a REALTOR^©, Karen has achieved multi-million dollar sales volume and has earned the designations of “Seller Representative Specialist” and “Recreation and Resort Specialist”.  She is also very involved in the local community, particularly in the education field, and volunteers many hours of community service.

After working as a Law Firm Administrator for over 25 years in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Maria relocated to the Brunswick Isles in 2002. Maria’s career as a REALTOR© began as an On-site Resale Consultant at Sea Trail Plantation where she remained for 6 years.  Maria then worked as an On-Site Consultant, at Wisteria Place, in Shallotte, NC, prior to joining Mary Ann Bechtel’s Dream Team at the beginning of 2010. Maria has earned the designations of Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), Accredited Buyers’ Representative (ABR) and Resort Recreation Specialist   (RRS) and continues to educate herself in order to stay abreast of all the latest trends and changes in the real estate market.

Maria is fluent in Spanish, and has ties with Brunswick County’s Hispanic community.   She has also been active in Brunswick County’s Relay for Life committee.

Candace joined the team in early 2007 to lead our marketing efforts. She brings years of coastal real estate experience. Starting in 1996 as Marketing Assistant for Ocean Ridge Plantation ®, she held that position for 3 years before moving on to become the Marketing Manager at Sea Trail Plantation where she spent over 4 years. Candace knows the “in’s-and-out’s” of our local market as well as provides years of experience “selling” our area and our properties nationally.

She brings with her years of customer service and office management experience.  Having been in the automotive industry for 26 years she understands the importance of customer satisfaction and strives to reach that goal with every client. Abbey recently moved to Brunswick County from New Jersey.
